favorite travel photography 2020

I found myself traveling the last couple of months in 2020 more than I had in several years. It was unexpected, but completely welcome.

Montana

September brought me back to my favorite place in the US, Montana. I found myself out there for the first time back in 2016. I took a two week road trip around the US., and spent some time in Bozeman. It’s hard to explain why I love the mid-west so much. Maybe how untouched and wild it seems. There’s just a particular type of freedom you feel when you can see for miles in every direction.

This was a spur of the moment weekend trip. We split our time between Yellowstone and Greenough, MT. We stopped by an absolutely stunning ranch - 37,000 acres, 100 miles of trails, and 10 miles of the Blackfoot River. It was the first time in years that I didn’t hear a single car horn or siren.

Yellowstone was our last stop before flying back home. The Grand Prismatic Springs never really change, but I love going to see them anytime I’m in the park. It also provides some of the best b&w photos.

Nantucket

I found myself traveling to Massachusetts in October for work. Unfortunately the busy season had come to an end. Combined with the ongoing pandemic, there wasn't much to do. Most of the restaurants were closed, and the wind chill was pretty harsh.

New York, NY

Nantucket wasn’t a top travel destination for October. So instead of spending the three of four days there, we left early to do a mini road trip back to Georgia. I’d never been to New York before, so I was excited to go. Up until that point, my vision of New York was a mixture of Gossip Girl and the Devil Wears Prada. I was blown away by the sheer size of the buildings, let alone the city.

I absolutely love history & natural history museums. Honestly, I love museums in general. But history museums are my favorite little niche. So it was without question that I visit the American Museum of Natural History.
